  International Policing Institute

For years, police departments in the Latin America and the Caribbean region have sought assistance from the Miami Police Department to develop partnerships and facilitate training of their personnel in modern crime fighting techniques. They have also welcomed our expertise in responding to threats and emergencies that might arise in their communities.

The International Policing Institute provides Police Managers with the necessary training, in theory and practice, in various law enforcement concepts. The department’s Subject-Matter Experts, many fluent in Spanish and Creole, are eager to teach their counterparts abroad with the objective that upon completion of their training program, they will be able to impart their new knowledge to officers under their supervision in their respective countries and revise policies and procedures to reflect their lessons learned.

The Chief Clarence Dickson Police College, International Policing Institute (IPI) offers internship/training to international law enforcement, criminal justice students/professionals who submit required documentation and vetted through the U.S. Department of State. The internship schedule is created in a one-, two-, three-, six-, eight-week, 6-month, 1-year format with an assignment in below subject areas. We welcome the opportunity to conduct an internship that requires mandatory dorm room reservation. This internship is to meet your agency, career, or educational requirements. Cost of internship is $300.00/week (U.S. Funds); cost of dorm room is $50.00/night, after 2-week stay, the monthly rate $700.00/month applies. Please note areas off-limit to the internship experience, i.e. SIS, SWAT, Bomb Squad, Tactical Operations, Crime Suppression, Aviation Detail, etc.
