Assaults Unit

Mission

The Assaults Unit's mission is to investigate, arrest and present for prosecution cases related to Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Stalking, Hate Crimes and Arson, and to evaluate trends, methods, and overall crime patterns related to these crimes in the City of Miami.

The Assaults Unit is an element within the Criminal Investigations Division. The overall responsibility of the Assault Unit is to investigate felony crimes related to Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Stalking, Hate Crimes and Arson. Working in conjunction with numerous internal and external disciplines, the Assault Unit conducts criminal identification, investigation and apprehension of persons responsible for violent crimes, where probable cause exists.

Detectives in this unit have received extensive training, including such topics as criminal investigations, search and seizure, search warrants, arrest warrants, evidence collection and preservation, interviews and interrogations, and criminal profiling.
