MPD Community Events Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.)

Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.), is one of the Miami Police Department volunteer programs developed as part of the HEROS (Helping Enforcement Reach Our Streets) project, it is designed to directly involve citizens in crime prevention. Citizens' Police Academy

Please be advised that the Miami Police Department (M.P.D.) will be hosting this year’s Citizens’ Police Academy (C.P.A.) training, on Tuesdays only, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. , beginning September 20 through November 8, 2011. Graduation will be on November 15th. The course is intended to familiarize citizens with the internal workings of the MPD to include Patrol, Homicide, Internal Affairs, strategic and other specialized units and divisions. The C.P.A. also offers ride-alongs. This year, a visit to the county jail and/or morgue is being included in the curriculum.

Please apply as soon as possible but before September 1, 2011 of your availability to attend. The M.P.D. also asks that you share this information with family, friends, co-workers and neighbors who may be interested in attending.
