The Survival Detail I has moved into a new state-of-the-art facility that provides classroom and simulation that includes moving multiple adversary targets and scenarios in a twelve (12) lane indoor range. The range includes the investment of a Meggitt® Simulator. This Detail performs firearms training for all Miami Police Department sworn personnel. Annual training includes mandated qualification with issued weapons, firearms maintenance, and review of the Deadly Force Policy.

The Detail also implements specialized firearms training for in-service personnel from other agencies through Region XIV courses. Firearms training staff members play a key role in departmental shooting review boards to address training issues and offer expertise in police involved shootings.
