Anti-Corruption
The Anti-Corruption Unit investigates allegations and manages
intelligence related to police corruption.
On May 29, 2008, a long term joint investigation with the Federal
Bureau of Investigation and the Anti-Corruption Unit resulted in the
arrest of two City of Miami police officers. The Anti-Corruption Unit was
active in the investigation from its inception and was instrumental in
its success. This investigation uncovered two corrupt officers involved
with providing escorts of drug and stolen property shipments. The
investigation culminated in federal indictments which resulted in both
defendants pleading guilty.
In a separate investigation, the Anti-Corruption Unit made multiple
arrests of City employees as a result of proactive investigations involving
the theft of fuel from several City locations. With the resolution of these
cases, the Anti-Corruption Unit was able to prevent thousands of dollars
in further losses to the City and its taxpayers. |
