Miami Police Department Online Incident Reporting System

 

Welcome to the Miami Police Department’s Online Incident Reporting System. This service allows victims of certain non-emergency crimes to file a police report without waiting for an officer’s response.

 

Eligible Crime Types

 

The following incidents may be reported online:

  • Theft (Property): Theft of personal property where no unlawful entry into a structure occurred.

  • Retail Theft: Theft of property from an open business or commercial establishment.

  • Theft from a Motor Vehicle: Theft of property located inside a vehicle (does not include theft of the vehicle itself).

  • Criminal Mischief/Vandalism: Intentional damage to personal property, including graffiti-related damage.

  • Lost Property: Items reported lost for documentation purposes only.

 

Reporting Requirements

 

Before filing an online report, please confirm that:

  1. This is not an emergency.

  2. You are the victim of the crime or an authorized representative of a business.

  3. The incident occurred within City of Miami boundaries. To verify jurisdiction, please use the Miami-Dade Police Department jurisdiction tool: Miami-Dade Police Report Link. Only reports occurring within City of Miami Police Department jurisdiction will be accepted.

  4. There are no known suspects or evidence left at the scene.

  5. The stolen property does not include a firearm.

  6. The stolen property does not include a motor vehicle, license plate, or license plate decal.

 

If you answered “Yes” to all of the above, you may proceed with filing your report online. If you answered “No” to any, please call 9-1-1 for assistance.

 

After Submitting Your Report

 

For Crimes:

  • After submission, you will receive an on-screen confirmation and a temporary case number.

  • A Miami Police Department representative will review your case within five (5) business days.

  • If approved, you will receive an email confirmation with your permanent case number.

  • If rejected, you will be notified by email with the reason and any next steps required.

 

For Lost Property:

  • After submission, you will receive an on-screen confirmation and an incident number.

  • No further action will be taken by the Miami Police Department.

 

Important Reminder

 

Under Florida State Statute 817.49, knowingly filing a false police report is a First-Degree Misdemeanor, punishable by up to one (1) year of imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $1,000.
