Chief Jorge R. Colina commands the Miami Police Department, comprised of approximately 1,600 sworn and civilian personnel, ensuring that all members maintain the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity. He oversees the Field Operations, Criminal Investigations, and Administration Divisions, the Internal Affairs Section, and Public Information Office. Chief Colina formulates departmental procedures, directs agency activities, and prepares and oversees a budget of $188,987,900. He is responsible for the development of short and long range departmental strategic goals to maximize police efficiency and establish a foundation of leadership. Chief Colina works closely with the Office of the Mayor, City Commissioners, the City Manager’s Office, and other city departments to formulate regulations and procedures, resolve operational problems, and facilitate informal interactions with the community and city government
