At the Miami Police Department, the staff responsible for all aspects of recruiting and selection of the most qualified applicatnts is the Recruiting and Selection Unit. An element within the Administration Division's Personnel Management Section, the Recruitment and Selection Unit develops the Department's recruiting program in collaboration with the City of Miami's Employee Relations staff. The Unit's personnel guide applicants throughout the entire process from initial recruitment, through the Civil Service examination and physical agility testing and finally the medical examination. The ultimate goal of the Unit is to identify individuals with the greatest potential for a successful career in the Miami Police Department and make every effort to hire that applicant.
