Special Projects
The Special Projects Unit is assigned to the Support Services Section in the Administration Division.  The Unit is comprised of a lieutenant, an officer and a support staff of 12 civilians.  The unit functions in a support role for the organization providing a wide range of different services.

The Unit is responsible for the following:  Building Maintenance, the development of the new Topic Based Departmental Order manual, Publication of Departmental Orders and Supplements, the Annual Report, Records Custodian, Publication of the Official Bulletin, correspondence for the Chief of Police and other special projects. 
  • The Building Maintenance Detail;
    • Overseeing all capital improvements to all police facilities.
    • Minor building repairs.
      • Electrical.
      • Plumbing.
      • Landscaping.
    • Test emergency generators.
    • Painting of all police facilities.
    • Move furniture.
  • Topic Based Departmental Orders;
    • Development of the new policy manual. (Change an organizational based manual to a topic design)
      • Write, change, research, and develop a new policy manual.
      • Conduct meetings with a review committee.
      • Prepare information for the Policy Review Committee. 
  • The Annual Report;
    • Write articles.
    • Collect information.
    • Collect Photographs for the yearly magazine.
    • Conduct fund raising for publication.
    • Publish Annual report.
    • Mail publication to businesses and other organizations as requested.
  • Records Custodian;
    • Public records request.
    • Subpoenas.
    • Records destruction.
  • Publication of the Official Bulletin;
    • Publication of events in the departmental bi-weekly bulletin.
    • Publication of messages from the Chief.
    • Publication of special announcements,
      • Training updates.
      • Death notification of former employees.
  • Prepare correspondence for the Chief of Police.
  • Other Special Projects;
    • 112th IACP Annual Conference which was held in September 2005.
